Yosemite to San Fran
Hey hey party people.
I've been slacking off. Mainly because the wifi was rubbish at Yosemite National Park.
So what's new?
Well after Bishop, we camped for two days at Yosemite (yo-semi-tea) National Park.
It's picturesque. BUT I'm soooo over camping.
Anyway. We decided to take it easy and just sun bathe, swim in the river and check out a water fall (that had no water actually falling).
Then we made the short drive to San Fran.
I.love.it. I always kinda gage how much I like a place by asking myself 'would I live here?'. I can definitely see myself in San Fran; working in the city, shopping in the hippy district. It's just such a nice, clean city. Awesome transport system and relatively cheap. It's not generic. I love the architecture and the colourful house and the public parks.
The ONLY thing that puts me off San Fran, besides the possibility of an earthquakes, is the amount of homeless people.
I don't think I have ever come across so many homeless people in my life.
They are polite and don't really cause a fuss but it's more of a personal battle for me cause I wanna take them all home and feed them, give them a shower and a chance. It's sad.
Yesterday I went on a catamaran sail around the San Fran harbour. It was cold but worth it.
Today I just went shopping (whoops)and did a open top bus tour around San Fran to try to see as much as possible in the time I had.
Tomorrow we drive to Pismo Beach. I'm excited because it's the last place we camp! Then the rest of the trip is hotels.
There should be wi fi at the next stop so we're all good for a post tomorrow.

Vegas to Bishop
Apologies for my
rubbish last post. I definitely killed a few brain cells in Vegas.
Back to it…
On our way to
Vegas, we stopped at Seligman, a small town on Route 66. It is actually the
inspiration behind the town in the animated movie cars. It was qaint. I bought
a sticker. Yeah!
Vegas is cool
because it’s shamelessly cheesy. It’s not like LA were you are fooled into
believing life is all ‘Beverly Hills’ and Rodeo Drive, then as soon as you
leave those areas everywhere looks like South Road (<Adelaide reference).
Vegas is just like ‘BAM this is it’. I thought I would find it horribly tacky
but it’s more like a classy crass.
We stayed at the Stratosphere, a
hotel/casino famous for the thrill rides on the top of a 108 floor tower (?).
It was a great spot. Woke up every morning to a view of the mountains (and a
hangover).
We left Vegas and
headed towards Yosemite National Park stopping at Death Valley, the lowest point below sea level
in the western hemisphere.
Last night we
headed out to a natural hot spring, literally in the middle of the desert and
surrounded by mountains. We had a great time under the stars laughing about our
Vegas adventures.
Today we head to
Yosemite. I don’t know how I’m going to cope trekking as I’m still sore from
the Grand Canyon but we’ll see how it goes.
No wi fi at the
national park so I will post again when I get to San Fran.

VEGAS BABY
I hope that none of the pictures from last night ever surface! That's all I'm gonna say about what happened.
I will say that Vegas is awesome. It really is like an adults DisneyWorld. I thought I had it pretty figured out before I came here; it's been in soo many movies and is famous for its nightlife, I had a pretty clear idea of what to expect.
But it's not just hard core party go-ers. There are families, couples and plenty of older people.
I'm still tired from last night so I'll post more about Vegas later.
Tomorrow we leave for Death Valley, the hottest and lowest point in the western hemisphere.
Goodbye Vegas, it's been fun

Grand Canyon
Yesterday I trekked down the Grand Canyon on the
Bright Angel trail. It was probably the most physically challenging thing I’ve ever done. Going down is all laughs and smiles but you forget you have to
walk all the way back up. What took two hours to get down took four hours to
get back up. And I’m talking a constant incline with no flat points ever! Not even once!
Fair to say I’m a little sore after all the walking
but it was worth the view.
I wasn’t really interested in the Grand Canyon before
but now I would recommend it to everyone. It's such a magical place. It's hard to explain, you just have to experience it.
Today we are on our way to Las Vegas (whoop whoop) via
route 66.
Tonight, we partay.

Grand Canyon
I have never been so emotionally affected by a place in my
life. The Grand Canyon had me in awe. When I turned the corner and discovered
its immenseness I actually started to shake. I mean, it could have been the
vertigo but it really hit me in the chest. I never expected it to move me as much as it
did.
One thing that I’ve noticed on this trip is that Americans really take advantage of all the natural wonders around them. Facilities at tourists attractions are really top notch and most of the time, there are more American visitors than foreign.
On our way to the Grand Canyon we stopped at Montezuma's Castle where I got to learn all America's indigenous people.
We also visited Rock Slide State Park which was the most fun I've had on this trip so far.
It's basically a small canyon with rapid running fresh water and slippery flat rocks you can slide down. Sounds weird, and is a bit painful, but was really great fun.
Tomorrow I am going to trek around the Grand Canyon and watch the sunset again.
It's breathtaking.

Phoenix, Arizona
Today was just a driving day.
We drove cross state from San Diego, California to Phoenix,
Arizona. It took about 8 hours.
We stopped at the sand dunes but it was so stinking hot we
just scoffed down some food, took photos and left.
Tomorrow there are a few more activities planned as we head
to the Grand Canyon.
The next four days are camping so I am really gonna
appriciate tonights sleep in a comfy bed.
It was 39 dgrees today… absolute scorcher… and 50% chance of
thunderstorms tomorrow. Really don’t want to be pitching tents in the rain.
I ‘m not sure what the internet situation is at the next stop but i’ll do my best.
