Vegas to Bishop

Apologies for my rubbish last post. I definitely killed a few brain cells in Vegas.

Back to it…

On our way to Vegas, we stopped at Seligman, a small town on Route 66. It is actually the inspiration behind the town in the animated movie cars. It was qaint. I bought a sticker. Yeah!

Vegas is cool because it’s shamelessly cheesy. It’s not like LA were you are fooled into believing life is all ‘Beverly Hills’ and Rodeo Drive, then as soon as you leave those areas everywhere looks like South Road (<Adelaide reference). Vegas is just like ‘BAM this is it’. I thought I would find it horribly tacky but it’s more like a classy crass.

We stayed at the Stratosphere, a hotel/casino famous for the thrill rides on the top of a 108 floor tower (?). It was a great spot. Woke up every morning to a view of the mountains (and a hangover).

We left Vegas and headed towards Yosemite National Park stopping at Death Valley, the lowest point below sea level in the western hemisphere.

Last night we headed out to a natural hot spring, literally in the middle of the desert and surrounded by mountains. We had a great time under the stars laughing about our Vegas adventures.

Today we head to Yosemite. I don’t know how I’m going to cope trekking as I’m still sore from the Grand Canyon but we’ll see how it goes.

No wi fi at the national park so I will post again when I get to San Fran.
